The Tempio Voltiano – Gardens project, carried out together with architect Davide Curcio and landscape architect Pierluigi Ratti, aims to enhance the landscape surrounding the famous temple dedicated to Alessandro Volta on the Como lakeside.
The shapes of the design were carefully conceived to respect local pre-existing elements, both architectural and natural, while establishing an focal point around the Voltiano Temple. Pathways and green areas are arranged to create a gathering place for visitors, highlighting the temple’s presence as a central element without overpowering it.
This intervention also focuses on creating green spaces, pedestrian pathways, and rest areas that seamlessly blend with the temple’s neoclassical architecture and the scenic beauty of the lake. The greenery plan adheres to principles of sustainability and biodiversity by combining native species with ornamental varieties, ensuring seasonal blooms and a consistently well-maintained appearance year-round.
Local stone walkways wind through shaded areas, flowerbeds, and scenic overlooks, inviting visitors to pause and take in the view. The result is a welcoming and captivating garden that remains in dialogue with the past while promoting preservation and appreciation of the region for the future.
